In 2018, approximately 71,220 students from Taiwan studied in different countries all over the world. Most of the students chose English speaking countries for their study abroad. In academic year 2018/19, a total of 23,369 students from Taiwan were studying in the United States and 18,791 in Canada. Students from Taiwan studying in Hong Kong or mainland China were not included in the statistic.
